You know you're physically healthy when you start every day with energy and vitality and you accomplish your tasks and challenges cheerfully and effectively - no matter what your age.
Is this how you start each day now?
Daily nutrition and exercise have everything to do with maintaining physical health. Even though you try to eat the right foods, you may not be getting the vitamins and minerals that are necessary to maintain good health.
Our food sources are plants and animals. Unfortunately, we all know too well the compromising quality of both available today.
Fresh foods start losing their nutritional value as soon as they are harvested:
- Early Harvest 25% loss
- Transportation 25% loss
- Storage 50% loss
- Cooking 50% loss
One of the main keys to our health and wellness is ingesting adequate, proper minerals. Our body makes no minerals. Vegetables are only as nutritious as the soil they were grown in. And again, sadly the earth is mineral deficient after years of abuse - improper crop rotation, over-pesticide use, along with damaging UV rays from the hole in the ozone layer - robbing the earth still further of precious minerals.
In order to get the same nutritional value today as you would have in 1950 from eating 1 cup of spinach - you would need to eat 70 cups. To get the same value from 1 wedge of cabbage - today, you would need to eat 50 wedges.
Plus, we are a society of people eating out of boxes, bags, cans and fast-food windows - consuming tons of over processed white sugar and white flour.
"61 percent of the population in the U.S. is currently overweight and 27 percent are clinically obese. These numbers have doubled since 1980 and increased 10 percent in the last four years."9
Although 1 in 4 Americans are obese - 97% of all Americans suffer from some form of malnutrition. 2/3 of the population is deficient in Vitamin E and zinc. 1/2 are calcium deficient. What is going on here?
The National Institute of Health has stated that every person needs DAILY supplements. It is next to impossible for a person to consume enough food each day to satisfy the vitamin/mineral requirements of our bodies. For example, in order to have enough Vitamin E, you would have to eat 256 slices of whole wheat bread each day. To have enough Vitamin C, you would need to eat at least 10 pieces of fruit daily and Vitamin K, 33 lbs. of spinach every day.
The top four causes of death today were not even in the top ten causes of death 100 years ago.
- Heart Disease
- Cancer
- Stroke
- Prescription Drugs
(106,000 people died in the year 2000 from mixing prescription drugs)
Look's like you're fighting a losing battle, well not quite…
Eating properly and supplementing your meals with Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements can help reduce the possibility of Heart Disease, Cancer and Stroke.
